A peaceful morning walk along the South River Trail in DeKalb County turned into a disturbing discovery for a local resident who says he found dozens of dead animals dumped in a wooded area. Adam Laverack said he was walking the trail Saturday morning near Cottonwood Drive and Fargo Place when he initially thought he had spotted two dead dogs. “There was a pile of what I thought were two dogs here,” Laverack said. “It turned out that it was three baby goats, a bunch of chickens, and pigeons.” According to DeKalb Animal Enforcement Services, investigators found 28 pigeons, three goats, two chickens and one duck discarded in the woods.
